I run for those who cannot...
A few years ago my husband and I were introduced to The Painted Turtle Camp north of Los Angeles. We were amazed at the support, management, organization, and HEART this camp gives the children and their families.
Each year we do what we can to help The Painted Turtle. In the past it was volunteering with fellow co-workers to spruce up the place before the Campers arrived (see pictures on the side). This year - as I go into a new year 2010 - I decided to not retire my running shoes after all. This time I thought my sweat and smiles through the 26.2 mile LA Marathon can help Campers and families at The Painted Turtle.

Once a camper enters The Painted Turtle's gates, they put aside their medical conditions and enter a world filled with camp fun, camaraderie, and the freedom to enjoy just being a kid. In 2009, we served more than 1,600 children with 18 different medical conditions and their family members at our summer sessions and spring and fall family weekends. In addition, we have served more than 1,100 children through our hospital outreach program. No child or family will ever pay to attend camp. It is through your generosity that this is possible.
